Solange Peters

Bio
Professor Peters is full professor and chair of medical oncology and the thoracic malignancies program in the Department of Oncology at the University Hospital of Lausanne in Switzerland. She currently oversees teaching and patient care in thoracic malignancies at Lausanne University, where she is building a translational program in collaboration with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology and the Ludwig Institute. She acts as the local principal investigator for lung trials at Lausanne Cancer Centre and is scientific committee chair and Foundation Council member of the European Thoracic Oncology Platform. Her main fields of interest include new biomarker discovery and validation in preclinical and clinical settings as well as cancer immunotherapy. She has authored more than 500 peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters and is the associate editor of the Annals of Oncology and deputy editor of Lung Cancer, serves on the editorial board of several other oncology journals and was the deputy editor of the Journal of Thoracic Oncology for 10 years.
Professor Peters completed her M.D. and Ph.D. training at the University Hospital of Lausanne. She is the youngest president of the European Society of Medical Oncology, where she served for an extended period of 2020-2022 and created the organization’s Women for Oncology Committee. She is a board member of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer and is the current vice president of the Swiss Cancer League.
